Your trademark is legally protected from the date of filing not the date of registration. This date establishes your legal priority.
Do you have a brand name, logo, or slogan connected to a business, product, or service in India or one you plan to use there?
Are you operating in, selling to, or planning to launch in the Indian market whether online, through family, or directly?
Do you want legal recourse if someone copies your brand name or logo and uses it in India to sell competing goods or services?
If you answered yes to any of these, your brand has no statutory protection in India until you register it. Anyone can legally register your name first.
Registration takes 12–18 months. Protection is backdated to your filing date which means the best time to file is before you need it, not after a dispute arises. An unregistered trademark gives you limited common law rights at best, and those are expensive to enforce.
A trademark is a legal registration that gives you exclusive rights to use a specific name, logo, or slogan in connection with your goods or services in India. Once registered, no one else can legally use the same or a confusingly similar mark in your category of business. You gain the right to take legal action if they do.
A trademark protects your brand identity. It does not protect the product itself (that’s a patent), or the creative work behind it (that’s copyright). It protects the name and mark you trade under the thing your customers recognise as yours.
Registered trademarks in India are valid for 10 years from the filing date and can be renewed indefinitely. Once registered, your mark belongs to you in perpetuity, as long as you keep renewing it.
You can use the ™ symbol as soon as LexBridge files your application. It signals to the market that you’ve claimed the mark and an application is in progress. Valid from day one of filing.
The ® symbol can only be used once the Indian Trademark Registry issues your Registration Certificate typically 12–18 months after filing. Using ® before registration is a legal offence in India.
A trademark does not protect your product design (Design Registration), your invention (Patent), or your written work (Copyright). It protects the name and mark you identify your business by.
You’ve built a brand abroad and want to protect it in India before you launch, expand, or return. Filing now prevents anyone from registering your name before you do.
You sell products to the Indian market online. Without a registered trademark, a competitor can legally replicate your brand name and there is no recourse without registration.
You’ve inherited or co-own a family business with an established name that was never formally registered. This closes that gap before a dispute can arise.
You’re building a company with Indian customers or operations and need the brand legally secured before a funding round, partnership, or public launch.
You offer consulting, education, legal, or creative services under your own name or brand to Indian clients and you want that brand protected in your category.
A CA, immigration lawyer, or business advisor has told you to register your trademark as part of a structuring, funding, or visa step. LexBridge handles the filing end to end.

Tell us what your business does and we’ll confirm the right class or classes before you commit, at no charge. Some businesses need two or three classes (e.g., a fashion brand selling online needs both Class 25 and Class 35). We’ll advise before you file.
Trademark registration involves more steps than a standard document application. Here is exactly what happens from intake to your Registration Certificate.
Your application is filed electronically through the IP India portal. You receive a filing acknowledgment with your official application number. From this date, your trademark is legally protected even before registration is complete.
The Registry examines your application and may raise objections either on absolute grounds (e.g., the mark is too descriptive) or relative grounds (conflict with an existing mark). If an objection is raised, Ujjwal prepares and submits a formal legal response within the required 30-day window. One full round of objection response is included in the Base Service Fee.
Once accepted, your mark is published in the official Trademarks Journal. A 4-month window follows during which any third party can file an opposition. If an opposition is filed, LexBridge handles the full defense, preparing your counter-statement, filing responses, and representing your position through the proceedings.
